My tribute to Lakers

I never heard about NBA in my life let alone watch it on TV before May year 2010.When I was in India and my husband, that time fiance , was in USA, he used to tell me about his interest in basketball with full excitement, I used to ask myself Is this my fiance who is stupid or Is this the game, I mean who watches basketball. That time I was untouched with the charisma of Kobes, Garnets, Rondos, Allens, Wades and Pierce.

Last year when I came here in January, It was all about roaming and discovering this new place until May with the start of playoffs.I was forced to watch NBA as with remote in my husband hands nothing much I could do except bearing those big american players running from basket to basket on my TV Screen. You can't imagine how boaring those 4 quarters were for me as I didn't understand the A B C of NBA.

My stubborn husband never left a chance of feeding my head with 3 pointers, 24 sec time, paint area, 4 quarters and yes ofcourse Lebron James, his favourite player.

As all the teams in payoffs had to play best of 7 series against their opponents, it was pretty frustrating for me as every night there was some match going on and I am watching those players making jump shots but somehow those slam dunks caught my attention and I started taking interest in the game when the series reached the finale.

There were two teams Los Angles Lakers and Boston Celtics fighting to become champions of the year 2010. Lakers were the defending champions that time. My interest grew with the Lakers and by the time they reached game 3 , I was all for Lakers, then they lost both game 4 and game 5 on the road , it was like they not going to bounce back but when they came back on their home grounds, they were a different team alltogether. They played like champions. Kobe was their start and he shined like one.

Lakers were champions for last two years and like any other Lakers fan me too was 100% sure to see them in final this year but all my hopes got stolen by Dallas Mavericks who showed such a fantastic basketball today by sweeping Lakers by 4-0.

When it was 5:06 left on clock and Lakers were behind by 30 points , I was still praying to God for some miracle. Nothing happened and Lakers lost and so are the hopes of fans who wanted to see them winning those rings again, fans who wanted to Kobe to win that ring to match the record of Michael Jeffrey Jordan.

I am upset as I won't be able to see them palying anytime before October this year and also by that time this team will be changed. I am sure there will be new faces. Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Ron Artest, Derek Fisher, Andrew Bynum-this was the team I fell in love with and I don't think I will ever see them playing together again. I wish you could have win again this timefor me and for more than thousands of fans across the globe.

I love you Lakers and will love you forever as you were my first love in basketball. Will miss you :(

P.S- I am upset but my hopes are still alive with Boston Celtics on the floor. All the best :)
